guerneville is no stranger to flooding. ... after cars and trucks were submerged. after previous floods in the mid 90s, "fema" offered grants to help elevate-- or "raise"-- homes above flood-levels. some two-hundred homes have been

raised, with another two-hundred yet to go. the russian river is not the only place we )re watching in te north bay. the napa river is already flooding too. it )s set to crest at seven this morning - in about three hours. our bob redell is there - he )ll join us live in the next half hour. a live look at fairfax creek in marin. this is right near city hall. with the deluge of rain .. people are keeping a close eye on the rising waters. but right now .. levels are well below the flood warning stage. right now it )s at about 3 feet .. according to ross valley fire department measurements. flood state is 3 times that. the wind and rain shut down f lnut creek )s main thoroughfares. ygnacio valley road is completely blocked in both directions. today in the bay )s kris sanchez joins us live from walnut creek with how long this will last. there )s much more news ahead

today marks day five of the oakland teachers strike. still, there )s no deal in sigh. now oakland )s superintendent claims the strike is costing the cash-strapped district a million dollars a day. the oakland unified school district says only (6 percent of students have been showing up to class during the strike. tonight, the oakland school district )s board of education will discuss the ongoing strike during it )s meeting. teachers walked off the job last thursday, demanding better pay, smaller class sizes, and more resources for students. the district says it is facing a budget crisis.

it )s another looming problem fr the d-m-v. an account used to fund 95 percent of the agency )s expenses may soon become bankrupt. according to the sacramento bee: a nonpartisan group predicts the nearly (4-billion dollar account will collapse in a few years. a deputy legislative analyst says the state will be unable to pay down its debts -- maybe as soon as 20-21. the department is now dipping into its reserves. he says if lawmakers don )t take immediate action -- it could translate to longer wait times or higher fees. for a second day in a row-- leaders in san francisco are expected to talk about preventing wildfires. specifically -- they )re looking at how to implement a one-billion dollar plan aimed at expanding protection statewide. governor jerry brown signed that bill into law before leaving office. last year -- 85 people were killed in the deadly camp fire in butte county. the flames caused more than 16 billion dollars in damages. now to a live look at the golden gate bridge. think you )ve seen the end of te golden gate bridge toll

hikes? well think again. the bridge district is now less than one year away from the end of a staggered, 5- year, toll increase. on july first -- the last hike to 8-dollars takes effect for non- fastrak users. bridge board members are debating how soon more hikes will be needed. under one proposal, tolls could rise to nearly (10 dollars by 20-23. the district is holding a public meeting on the issue at (7 tonight in san rafael. it )s an increasing concern across the bay area. and today, you can weigh in on the impact airplane noise has on your neighborhood. runs=4 complaints have been skyrocketing across the bay area in recent years. a santa clara county community round-table meeting on the issue is being held at 1 this afternoon in san jose. coming up on today in the bay.. we go back to our breaking weather coverage -- kari

the search is on right now, for a man who brutally attacked a woman in mountain view. this happened just before ten o )clock last night on the stevens creek trail. this is near the bridge to creekside park. the woman says the man approached her from behind and introduced himself as "jerry", but she kept walking. that )s when he grabbed the woman, pushed her into the bushes, and started punching her in the face. a couple stumbled upon the attack -- yelled at the man and distracted thim. police say the victim was able to bite the suspect )s hand which was over her mouth -- and run to safety. a follow-up to an attack at u-c berkeley. campus police have wrapped up the investigation. they are now seeking a felony

warrant against this man in the black shirt and pants. he attacked the victim last week, who was there as part of the conservative group "turning point u-s-a". the chancellor condemned the attack. developing now-- the united states marine corps is now looking into a viral video in which two uniformed marines appear to be in blackface. we want to warn you--some may find the images disturbing. the video was originally posted on snapchat -- and then shared on twitter. it shows one of the men saying what sounds like a racial slur. one of the marines spoke with radio station k-p-b-s and claimed he didn )t mean to post the images -- and called it a quote bad mistake. a nightmare train ride - now over .. for amtrak passengers - some of whom were headed to the bay area. on sunday night the "coast starlight" train got stuck in the snow in oregon after striking a fallen tree. nearly 200 passengers then sat on the train for nearly 40 hours before crews yesterday

tonight-- people in san francisco will come together to remember the life of city public defender jeff adachi. lighvigil is planned for 7 tonight outside of the public defender )s office there are still many questions surrounding his death. adachi died friday night. sources tell our investigative unit -- that preliminary autopsy reports, show he suffered extensive heart disease. the woman who made the 9-1-1 call still hasn )t been located. she )s a colombian national namd "catalina." adachi )s phone and wallet are also missing.

san jose leaders delay a vote that would allow taller buildings downtown. according to the mercury -- there are safety concerns with the city )s airport so close and he area. if approved, buildings could be between 5 and 35 feet taller downtown and 70 to 150 feet taller around diridon station. hawaiian airlines sent an e-mail to mayor sam liccardo -- saying it isn )t comfortable with the plan. if you are longing for the days where you and your friends could just get lost in some fun at your local arcade-- you )re in luck--a new one is coming to the bay area. people will get their first look at "emporium oakland" today and tomorrow. it )s a bit smaller than its san francisco location. but still has up 18 arcade games -- 9 pinball machines -- air hockey and more. you can also grab a cocktail while you play. doors open at 5 tonight. coming up on today in the bay - our coverage of this latest
